Biography 

Jamie Hutchinson is a Welsh violinist, originally from Tenby, based in London and performing Internationally. 

She has appeared on all major UK television channels and has recorded and played with artists as diverse as Robbie Williams, Burt Bacharach, Quincy Jones, Peter Gabriel, Procul Harum, Paul Weller, Barbra Streisand, Bryn Terfel and countless others.

For 9 consecutive years Jamie has performed at the BBC Proms, including at the Last Night of the Proms both at the Royal Albert Hall and in Hyde Park. She is frequently to be heard on the radio with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra and London Philharmonic Orchestra, all of whom she has toured with internationally.

She has been guest leader of various orchestras including The British Sinfonietta, The Welsh Session Orchestra, The London Gala Orchestra and most frequently The Novello Orchestra on their UK and Ireland tours of feature films such as Star Wars, Lala Land and Beauty and the Beast.

She is Sub Principal with the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra and appears as a guest principal with other ensembles such a Sinfonia Viva and London Concertante.

As a soloist Jamie has given concerts across Chile, The Falkland Islands, Italy, Czech Republic and (of course) Wales, as well as several engagements as a guest artiste on Cunard luxury cruise line. She is equally at home performing to large audiences such as at the St Davids Hall Festival of Remembrance, or giving intimate recitals for private parties or corporate events.

Having gained both Bmus(hons) and a Masters of Music with Distinction at the  Royal Northern College of Music, Jamie enjoys passing on her diverse musical knowledge through education​ and outreach work in schools and hospitals, for which she has received awards and accolades. She is also a dedicated violin teacher, having taught violin and piano since she was just 13 years old.

2019 highlights included touring Spain with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the First Night of the Proms with BBC Symphony Orchestra, Proms in the Park with the BBC Concert Orchestra and Barry Manilow, the gala reopening of Wimbledon Court One with the BBC Concert Orchestra and Paloma Faith, the O2 and Paris Accor Arenas with Quincy Jones and travelling from Namibia to The Canary Islands to perform two solo concerts on the Cunard World Voyage.

In her spare time (more so in 2020!) Jamie is a dedicated Pilates student and a keen runner. She is also a book worm and has tentatively started a blog due to her love of words.

Jamie is a member of the Court of Assistants of the Royal Society of Musicians, for whom she is an active fund raiser. She is also part of the co-ordinating team and committee for the RSM Coronavirus Social Network, aiming to give musicians the opportunity to talk to and support each other during exceptionally difficult times for the music industry.
